Chief Information Officer and Head of Digital Transformation, Crop Science
Ingo Elfering serves as head of Digital Transformation & IT for the Crop Science division of Bayer. He is also a member of the Crop Science Executive Leadership Team (ELT), IT Leadership Team (IT LT) and U.S. Country Leadership Team.
Before being named to this role, Ingo served as Senior Vice President of U.S. Business Services, the in-house competence center for business solutions and business support processes. He managed and led several functions, including IT, HR Operations, Order to Cash, and Meetings & Convention Management. In 2019, these functions – with the exception of IT – moved to different parts of the organization. Until the new Bayer 2022 organizational structures are in place, Ingo continues to lead the U.S.-based IT organization, as well as the Crop Science IT organization.
Ingo is a strategist, technologist, entrepreneur, innovator and executive. He’s an experienced leader who has successfully driven large-scale strategic and innovative change programs and has a unique background combining both corporate and entrepreneurial experience.
Before joining Bayer in September 2018, Ingo served as Chief Information (CIO) and Innovation Officer at Indivior (formerly Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals) in Richmond, Virginia. Previously, he gained broad leadership experience with GlaxoSmithKline, where he was responsible for disruptive innovation, core business services business transformation and various global roles in IT. Prior to that, he successfully founded, ran and sold a start-up company in Germany.
Ingo holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Germany and is based in St. Louis, Missouri. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with his wife, photography and cooking.
