Safety Results: GM Crops

Here you will find documents on our genetically modified (GM) crop products that have been assessed by regulators in the United States – the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Data to support every GM Crop product that Bayer has commercialized, in any country, has been submitted to the relevant US agencies.  The submissions to US regulators are often the basis for submissions to other countries and contain the key safety studies that have been performed on the products and submitted to regulatory authorities around the world.  

We will continue to add information and update this list to allow for access to safety-related information as we bring new products to the market.

Corn

MON 810 event confers an insect-resistant (IR) trait that produces the insecticidal protein Cry1Ab derived from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), providing protection from feeding damage caused by European corn borer (ECB) and other target lepidopteran pests. This event is commercialized as YieldGard® Corn Borer.

MON 87427 event confers an herbicide-tolerant (HT) trait that provides maize (corn) lines with tissue-selective glyphosate tolerance used to facilitate more efficient production of hybrid maize seed by eliminating or greatly reducing the need for manual or mechanical methods of detasseling maize plants that was typical of past hybrid seed production.  This event is a component of commercial products such as SmartStax®, VT Double PRO®, VT Triple PRO®, Trecepta® Corn.

MON 87460 event confers a drought-tolerant (DT) trait which expresses cold shock protein B from Bacillus subtilis, a protein that can mitigate the effects of drought stress. This event is a component of commercial DroughtGard® Hybrids products.

MON 88017 event confers an insect-resistance (IR) trait that produces the insecticidal protein Cry3Bb1 derived from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), providing protection against Corn rootworm (CRW) larval feeding. This product also contains Roundup Ready® 2 technology that provides crop safety for over-the-top applications of glyphosate herbicides, the active ingredient in Roundup® brand agricultural herbicides when applied according to label directions. This event is a component of commercial products such as SmartStax® and VT Triple PRO®  corn.  

MON 89034 event confers an insect-resistant (IR) trait that produces the insecticidal proteins Cry1A.105 and Cry2Ab2 derived from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), that together provides protection against feeding damage caused by European corn borer and other targeted lepidopteran insect pests. This event is a component of commercial products such as SmartStax®, VT Double PRO®, Trecepta® Corn.

NK603 event confers an herbicide-tolerant (HT) trait that provides crop safety for over-the-top applications of glyphosate herbicides, the active ingredient in Roundup® brand agricultural herbicides when applied according to label directions. This event is commercialized as Roundup Ready® Corn 2. 

Soybeans

40-3-2 event confers an herbicide-tolerant (HT) trait that provides crop safety for over-the-top applications of glyphosate herbicides, the active ingredient in Roundup® brand agricultural herbicides when applied according to label directions. This event is commercialized as Roundup Ready® Soybean. 

MON 87701 event confers an insect-resistant (IR) trait that produces the insecticidal protein Cry1Ab derived from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), providing protection from feeding damage caused by targeted lepidopteran pests. This event is a component of commercial products such as Intacta RR2 Pro™ and Intacta 2 Xtend™ soybeans. 

MON 87708 event confers an herbicide-tolerant (HT) trait that provides tolerance to dicamba and glyphosate herbicides, the active ingredient in Roundup® brand agricultural to maximize yield potential and provide additional weed control options for use before, at and after planting when applied according to label directions. This event is a component of commercial Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® Soybean products.

MON 89788 event confers an herbicide-tolerant (HT) trait that provides a high-yield potential product with crop safety for over-the-top applications of glyphosate herbicides, the active ingredient in Roundup® brand agricultural herbicides when applied according to label directions. This event is a component of commercial products such as Roundup Ready 2 Yield® and Intacta RR2 ProTM soybeans. 

Cotton

MON 531 event confers an insect-resistant (IR) trait that produces the insecticidal protein Cry1Ac derived from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), providing protection against feeding damage caused by targeted lepidopteran pests. This event is commercialized as Bollgard® Cotton. 

MON 15985 event confers an insect-resistant (IR) trait that produces two distinct insecticidal proteins, Cry1Ac and Cry2Ab2, from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) to increase the efficacy and spectrum of control and to reduce the chance that resistance will develop to the Bt insecticidal proteins. Together they provide protection against feeding damage caused by targeted lepidopteran insect pests. This event is commercialized as Bollgard II® Cotton. 

MON 88701 event confers an herbicide-tolerant (HT) trait that provides crop safety for over-the-top applications of dicamba and glufosinate agricultural herbicides, providing effective weed control options for use before, at and after planting when applied according to label directions. This event is a component of commercial XtendFlex® Cotton products.

MON 88913 event confers an herbicide-tolerant (HT) trait that provides improved tolerance to applications of glyphosate herbicides, the active ingredient in Roundup® brand agricultural herbicides when applied according to label directions. This technology gives growers the opportunity to make in-crop broadcast applications of approved herbicides. This event is a component of commercial Roundup Ready® Flex Cotton products. 

Canola

MON 88302 event confers an herbicide-tolerant (HT) trait designed for a range of growing conditions that provides high-yield potential while enabling a wider application window for grower flexibility and better weed control and crop safety for over-the-top applications of glyphosate herbicides, the active ingredient in Roundup® brand agricultural herbicides when applied according to label directions. This event is commercialized as TrueFlexTM Canola.

GT73 event confers an herbicide-tolerant (HT) trait that provides crop safety for over-the-top applications of glyphosate herbicides, the active ingredient in Roundup® brand agricultural herbicides when applied according to label directions. This event is commercialized as Roundup Ready® Canola.
