Importance of Smallholder Farmers

Around the world, it is estimated that there are more than 500 million farms less than two football fields in size. These smallholder farms occupy 70-80 percent of the total global farm land and produce most of the world’s food.* A world that is hungry for nutritious food, and steady income. The responsibility is large, but for smallholder farmers, access to resources, markets and agricultural know-how often falls short.
